The Making…

Growing up in a broken home, Neesin moved around a bit in Los Angeles county, staying between his mother and father's house where he used the arts as an outlet to release his inner thoughts. When asked how his childhood affected his love for the arts, Neesin replied "I aspire to inspire the uninspired. I’ve seen both of my parents battle with alcoholism and physical abuse which in turn created a very toxic household. Smiles were rare and cherished and I picked that up from a young age” he says. I knew then the value of putting a smile on someone’s face and instilling hope was priceless so, I just hope I can inspire and awaken that power in at least one person through my storytelling and sacrifice."

Neesin first found his love for the arts at the young age of 4, when he wrote and performed his own poem called "Black is beautiful'' in front of the whole student body and staff. From there he learned how to play the tenor saxophone and taught himself how to play the piano. He wrote countless short plays and skits for school organizations and churches that helped raise awareness for HIV/AIDs. He then took a break from acting to focus on music, (his hip hop band YrF Muzik) and to attend UCB, one of the top improv schools in the nation. He dropped a mixtape hosted by the legendary DJ Carisma, where the song would be placed on TV shows like HBO’s INSECURE and more. Neesin did three play/musical tours. (Flashing Lights, Hello America & Hello America 2014).

While working on music and studying at Lesly Kahn, he found time to perfect his script writing craft by taking and completing UCB’s sketch program, two short films (Friendsgiving & All Is Fair), working on a “Cannes Short Film Corner” film entitled RUN and writing sketches for social media content.

Taking this wide range of knowledge he has learned along the way, Neesin started co-directing his group’s music videos which would lead to his first directorial debut in a Italian short-film entitled “A Subtly”. After wrapping that film in Rome, Neesin returned back to the US to direct and lead productions for awarding short films to award winning music videos for Kanye West’s first artist off his newly launched music imprint “YZY SUNDS”. As well as Host, Producing and Directing 2 seasons of Revolt’s In A Session.

As far as accomplishments, Neesin as won a few awards including:  AT&T’s Create-a-thon Best Film Shot Using Mobile Device in 2017,  The HMMA’s award for best Independent Artist Music Video in 2021, Index Film Fest’s Best Mockumentary/Docucomedy Short in 2022 and numerous selections into film festivals across the globe.

With his inspirations being directors like Judd Aptow, Ryan Coogler, Christoper Nolan and Spike Lee, Neesin’s goal is to make timeless, culturally boundary pushing films that will inspire the next generation. When asked what his focus is currently, he replied “Making content that represents US is important to me. I feel in order for people to understand all walks of life, all walks of life must create content on an equal level.”
